Our Workshops

We run workshops and projects for people in our community. They are safe spaces to learn new things, get support, and connect with others.

A space for learning and support

Our work is led by what the community needs. We focus on helping people seeking asylum, refugees, and other marginalised groups in Glasgow. We believe everyone has the right to feel safe, respected, and heard. Our workshops give you practical tools and information to help you secure your rights, feel safe, build confidence and create a good life here.

These sessions are free and confidential. They are run by experienced staff who understand the challenges you may be facing. We often use interpreters to make sure everyone can take part. Below you can find more information about our main workshops. Each one is designed to meet a specific need within our community.

Challenging Violence Against Women (CVAW)

We work with men to support them to change their attitudes and practices and influence others in their communities. Social change affects the entire community. It is important that men are involved in this process to come up with lasting solutions. Ensuring that everyone has basic knowledge of their rights and responsibilities helps us achieve our aim of enabling women to lead a dignified life free from violation of human rights.

How we achieve and measure our impact

We connect with people in different ways. We run workshops, but we also go out into local groups to meet people where they are. Our work is built on trust and creating strong relationships.  Our main methods include:

  • Building Partnerships: We work closely with established community groups and religious organisations to build trust and deliver our message effectively
  • Education and Awareness: We educate communities about the serious health problems and social harm caused by FGM and other forms of gender based violence.
  • Individual Support: We engage with individuals, providing them with support and showing them where to find other services if they need them.
  • Focus on Human Rights: We raise awareness of human rights violations, with a special focus on child protection and violence against women.
  • Recruiting Community Champions: To raise awareness and address attitudes surrounding violence against women within their communities and families.
