ESOL and Digital Skills

Moving to a new country is a big change. Learning the language is one of the most important steps to feeling at home. It helps you with daily tasks like shopping and going to the doctor. It helps you meet new people. It helps you build your future.

Learn English and Essential Computer Skills with Us

At Community InfoSource, we offer free English classes for speakers of other languages, which are often called ESOL classes. Our classes are for people seeking asylum, refugees, and New Scots in Glasgow. We provide a warm, friendly, and patient space where you can learn at your own pace.

We know that in today's world, digital skills are just as important as language skills. So much of life happens online. We also teach essential computer skills to help you get connected. Our goal is to give you the tools and confidence you need to live well in Scotland. Our services are always free and confidential.

Our ESOL and digital skills programme is designed around you. We listen to what our learners need and create classes that are relevant and helpful.

Our English Classes

Our English classes are run by a team of trained volunteer teachers. They are passionate about helping people learn and communicate. We keep our classes small so that everyone gets the attention they need.

In our classes you can expect to:

  • Practice speaking and listening: We focus on practical, everyday English that you will use in your daily life. You will gain confidence in starting conversations and understanding what people are saying to you.
  • Improve your reading and writing: We help you learn to read letters, fill in forms, and write emails. These are important skills for managing your life independently.
  • Learn in a supportive group: Our classes are a great place to meet other people who are also new to Glasgow. Learning together makes the process easier and more enjoyable.
  • Find the right level for you: We offer classes for different abilities, from complete beginners to people who want to improve their fluency. We will help you find the class that is the best fit.

Digital Skills & Support

Living in the UK means you need to use the internet for many things. You might need to apply for services, contact your GP, or help your children with their homework. If you are not used to using computers or the internet, this can be very difficult. Our digital inclusion service is here to help.

  • Learn the basics: We can teach you how to use a computer or a smartphone. We can help you get online safely and set up an email address.
  • Use important online services: We will show you how to fill in online forms, use the NHS website, and access other essential services.
  • Connect with others: Learning digital skills can help you stay in touch with family and friends. It can also help you connect with new people in your community.
